Wellington

Wellington

Here it is, the last city on the
North Island that I went to.
It is the capital city of New
Zealand known as Wellington.
It is the home of two effects
companies Weta Digital and
Weta Workshop, one of
which was co-founded by
movie director Peter
Jackson. I didn't get into
those two studios, but
I did get into the Wellington
cable car.

the town of Otaki which is
part of a Kapiti Coast,
District of North Island
and is situated half way
between the capital city
of Wellington and Palmerston

Desert Road

Sorry, about the delays.
I was just too busy
working on my other
blog-site Film Guru Lad
pictures of Desert Road
which is known as
Rangipo Desert which
according to Wikipedia
is a barren desert-like
environment in New
Zealand, located in
the Ruapehu Desert on the
North Island Volcanic
Plateau; to the east of the
three active peaks of Mount
Tongario, Mount Nagauruhoe
and Mount Ruapehu and to
the west of the Kaimanawa
Range.

The desert is bisected by only
one sealed road, a section of
Stage Highway 1. The road is
closed for short periods most
winters with barriers arms due
to severe snow storms and icy
road conditions. Turangi
emergency services monitor
the northern part of the Desert
Road and the NZ army at
Waiouru is responsible for
the southern end.

I think that was one of the
locations that were shot on
one of 'The Lord of the Rings' movies.

Taupo

Taupo is a popular resort
town, located on the North
Island and nestled on the
banks of Lake Taupo, New
Zealand's largest lake. Taupo's
activities include fishing,
boating, walking, whitewater
rafting and jet boating.

You can see the thundering
but really spectacular Haku
Falls, 3km north of Taupo,
from above, or from below
on a launch or jet-boat trip.
